(RCA) (previously known as the Alaska Retriever Club) was formed in 1959. The first Licensed Trials were held in 1975. The RCA is associated with and follows the rules of the American Kennel Club (AKC). While the AKC is dedicated to the protection and advancement of purebred dogs of all breeds, the RCA is dedicated to the training, protection and advancement of all retrieving breeds (Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Curly Coated Retrievers, Flat Coated Retrievers, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, Irish Water Spaniels and Standard Poodles). The RCA adds to owner awareness through its newsletters, training classes and seminars.
